TOPICS
Research in Materials Chemistry
Our research in materials chemistry, conducted in one of the most important fields of materials science and technology, is aimed at revealing and understanding the connections among the conditions of the chemical synthesis or modification of structural and functional materials and their composition, microstructure and macroscopic properties. Models studied in IMEC include biologically active materials, traditional and new polymers, metals, ceramics and composite materials.
- Synthesis and characterization of nanolayers
- Formation of advanced, nano- and micrometer-sized materials in RF thermal plasma reactor
- Development of functional micro and nanosized composite particles
- Studies on electrochemistry: electrosorption and corrosion
- Synthesis and examination of metal complexes, analytical examinations in multicomponent systems
- Degradation and stabilization of polymers
- Study of natural and synthetic polymers and heterogeneous polymer systems
- Synthesis of polymers
Research in Environmental Chemistry
The purpose of our research in environmental chemistry is acquiring chemical, technological and engineering knowledge that, in addition to boosting environmental science, can also be utilized in environmental protection, especially in assessing and improving the state of the natural environment, as well as in developing industrial procedures and technologies having minimal environmental impact.
- Atmospheric chemistry studies
- Studies on chemical reactions for recycling of waste plastics
- Decomposition of hazardous organic wastes in RF thermal plasma
- Development of material and energy saving technologies for environmental protection
- Studies on the utilization of biomass materials by thermal methods
- Development of a new corrosion inhibitor, development and investigation of analytical methods
